HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST – March 28-29, 2014

(New Beverly Cinema, 7165 West Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036)

Hollywood Horrorfest presents the West Coast Premiere of the CBS Films release Afflicted (11.00pm March 28, New Beverly Cinema).

Winner of the Best Picture (Horror), Best Screenplay (Horror), Best Director (Horror) awards at the 2013 Fantastic Fest and recipient of awards of recognition from the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, Afflicted will receive its West Coast Red Carpet Premiere at the legendary New Beverly Cinema on Friday, March 28th, 2014 at 11:00pm. The writer, director and acting team of Derek Lee and Clif Prowse will be in attendance to introduce the film to the audience before it opens in theaters and On Demand on April 4th Writer/journalist Pat Jankiewicz will host a Q&A with the filmmakers following the premiere. The screening is FREE and seating is limited.

This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world.  Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a twisted and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted.

Says Festival Director Miles Flanagan, “I don’t want to say too much because this horror thriller (with a splash of comedy) is about discovery and features some of the most amazing practical effects we’ve ever seen. We’re so happy to be able to show this on the big screen.”

Continues Flanagan, Afflicted is one of the most suspenseful and original horror debuts we’ve seen in a long time. You think you’re going on one journey, then holy crap it takes you somewhere totally different. It’s a real audience pleaser.”

Hollywood Horrorfest (March 2829) puts a twist on the horror festival as it celebrates the past and showcases the future of indie horror filmmaking. This year it celebrates two classic horror films The Howling and Return Of The Living Dead, awarding honorees Joe Dante and Dick Miller the annual PRICE and IMPACT Awards respectively. The festival brings together the cast & crew of ROTLD for a 35mm screening and a Q&A moderated by writer/journalist Pat Jankiewicz. Its many FREE events include 13 World Premiere shorts & features in competition and the first annual “Panel to Die For” focusing on “How to Successfully Finance and Distribute Your Indie Film.” This FREE panel features industry lawyers, sales agents, producers,  & distributors – including Bianca Goodloe (attorney at Goodloe Law), Candace Leung (VP Business Affairs/Legal Counsel at Cinedigm Distributor), Erik Lundmark (CEO of Leomark Studios), Joseph Guzman (Prod. of Nude Nuns With big Guns) and John Knowles (Dir. of Reality Bites).
